During the year 1985 the existing Agril Research Station & Cattle Breeding Farm was strengthened under the National Agricultural Research Project- Phase I (NARP-I) programme to fill up the gap in the research & infrastructure facilities.

The All India Co-ordinated Research Project on Niger (ICAR) started functioning at ZRS, Igatpuri from 1992 for the research in the tribal areas of the Nashik & Ahmednagar districts. The All India Co-ordinated Research Project on cropping system research with its components of Experiments on Cultivators Field (ECF) started from June 1997 with its head quarter at Igatpuri. The additional activity of self-employment courses have also been started regularly from January 1998 under self-employment training program of Govt. of Maharashtra.
