  1. City of Dhule

    Dhule is the district Head Quarter located in the North of the Maharashtra State, at 200.4' N latitude and 740 E longitude with 258 meter altitude. It is situated on the junction of National Highway No.3 (Mumbai-Agra-Delhi) and National highway No.6. (Surat-Nagpur).The approximate road distance of Dhule from Mumbai, Pune, Surat (Gujarat) and Indore (Madhya Pradesh) is 370, 4l0, 225 and 265 Km respectively. The college of Agriculture is 4 Km away from Dhule City Bus Stand and 5 Km from the Railway Station. The annual average rainfall at Dhule is 575 mm mainly received from June to October. The maximum temperate is 42 0c during May, while the average minimum temperature is 9.7 0c in the month of December. The district is famous for cotton, starch and dairy industry.

  2. Historical Background of the College:

    The college of Agriculture, Dhule was established in the year 1960 It was affiliated to University of Poona offering four year degree course leading to B.Sc. (Agri) degree. It was subsequently affiliated to the Maharashtra Agricultural University, Rahuri in l968 and the Mahatma Phule Krishi Vidyapeeth, in l969. Mahatma Phule Krishi Vidyapeeth is established with the three basic objectives those are Agriculture Education , Research and Extension. Same are being followed by this college.

  3. Education :

    The main objective of the college is to provide education in Agriculture. The students are admitted after passing the H.Sc.(10+2) examination with Physics, Chemistry and Biology as compulsory subjects. Intake capacity of the College was 50 students per year at the beginning and now raised to l28 students per year. The degree programme is of four years duration having eight semesters. The evaluation of students is partly internal and partly external. The requirement for the B.Sc.(Agri) degree is l60 credits, of which 19 credits are reserved for Rural Agricultural Work Experience (RAWE). The programme of one semester has been introduced in the curriculum of B.Sc.(Agri) degree programme to expose the students to the rural life and farming situations. The College has total 206.75 ha. land of which 62.26 ha. is under buildings, roads, playgrounds and l44.49 ha. is under cultivation. Each discipline has an independent well equipped specious building for instructions, practical and research laboratories. One of the significant features of the college is the Boys and Girls hostel providing accommodation to 370 boys and 100 girls students. The hostel has a common hall, mess arrangement. The facilities of a common room with colour TV, canteen, Water cooler etc. are made available to the hostilities. The college library is housed in recently constructed gracious building constructed in 1998. The college library has a collection of 27425 books , 1300 back volumes and 54 important reports. The National Service Scheme sponsored by Ministry of Human Resources, Development Department of Youth Affairs, Government of India is in operation at this college. The Unit is provided with l00 volunteers and one Programme officer. The activities are two fold . a). The regular activity under which the volunteers have to complete 240 hours of service during two years of registration and b)Special campaign programme under which 50 volunteers are kept in a village for l0 days to participate in the literacy, health, sanitation, and regarding awareness of pollution etc. The college is attached to "A" Coy of the 48 Maharashtra NCC Battalian, Every year 54 students are enrolled, having to undergo the training for 2 to 3 years. They have to attend an annual training camp and other centrally organized camps. Students joining the NCC appear for the "B" and "C" certificate examination and can get commission in the army. Scholarship and educational concessions are available to deserved students as per the University/Govt. norms. Educational tours are arranged every year to the reputed institutions and oranizations through out the country to give the exposure to students to know functioning in different environment for their future carrier. Further, facilities like Gymkhana, Medical Aids, Post office, Bank etc. are made available on the college Campus.

  4. Research :

    Following Research Centers/Projects are associated with the college. National Agricultural Research Project Sub Center for Dry land Research. In this project research is carried out mainly in dry land farming . The main objective is to increase productivity of dry land crops, therefore research on different cropping systems, utilization of high yielding varieties ,judicial application of fertilizers, maximum utilization of available rainfall is carried out. Moreover, research is being done to study different cropping systems for light soils in dry land farming . Agriculture Research Station This station is meant for exploiting the possibilities of high productivity, various desired characteristics like disease and pest resistance , drought tolerance of different crops evolved at various research stations. Grass Research Station The main objective of research station is to evolve different cropping systems, different varieties of forage crops.

  5. Extension :

    At college, Extension Block is performing the activities of extension education, Research in different areas of Extension and Transfer of technology that is Method of Demonstration, Group Discussion, Field / Farm / Home Visits, Training class of Farmers etc.


  6. Krishi Vigyan Kendra :

    Krishi Vigyan Kendra is conducting following different activities:
    1. Vocational training to the farmers farm women, rural youth and grass root level extension workers. 2. To provide initial skills to the trainees to make them self reliant through generating self employment. 3. To conduct demonstration under Front Line Demonstrations, To increase the farmers confidence on the newly involved technology. 4. To plan and refine location specific technology developed by research station/ SAU's and blending the indigenous technical knowledge of farmers with the package of technology evolved by the SAU/ research stations.

  7. Regional Extension Center :

    Regional Extension Center has been established in June 2000. The main objective of the center is to plan, control, and execute the extension programme in the region and to co-ordinate and link between University other departments/ agencies engaged in the extension work. In addition to this to solve the field and crop problems of the farmers through field visits, group discussion, diagnostic team visits, training, farmers rallies, and to organize demonstrations are the items of extension work. Also to develop one village as 'Technology village' is one of the objective of this center
